The Issues Facing Our Businesses

As business owners, we know all too well the pressure of balancing a profitable business with hostile tax policies, the potential of government mandated health care insurance coverage, employee wages and relentless, overbearing government regulation.

As a business owner, I feel as if I have lost my voice to affect positive change.  And, it seems that the government looks to small business as a source to solve and rectify their costly mistakes instead of recognizing that business owners add jobs, provide needed services and help to grow the state’s economy.

Like me, you may have thought, where is my support and where is my reward?

I am speaking out to support small businesses.  I recognize that small businesses are the engine to employment and are a well-defined catalyst for building wealth. Small businesses are at the core of improving the standard of living for Arizonans.  The future success of our state depends on the future success of Arizona’s small businesses.

Real Plan…Real Action

My plan for Arizona has six “big picture” platforms:

1.    Business Friendly Policy – Small businesses are the lifeblood of our state.  A government should not increase the pressure of doing business by adding unneeded regulations, implementing programs which take away choices from owners and the simple liberties owners have regarding their ability to  “do the right thing for their business, employees and customers.”   Businesses must be protected from frivolous lawsuits and unnecessary litigation.

A business friendly state puts small business at the heart. By keeping the heart strong, we keep the body of Arizona healthy.  I will make sure our government focuses on investing in small business with the intent to  “protect the heart” and help our small business economy grow.

2.    Protecting Right-to-Work –
On both the federal and state level, pressures from organized labor is encroaching into our state borders.  The union’s push for higher wages with increased employee benefits and control adds downward pressure to Arizona’s businesses and artificially retards the growth of Arizona’s economy.  Right-to-work is good for both employers and employees. With the freedom to manage employees through performance-based measures a business owner can build a great staff and employees appreciate being rewarded for their efforts.  I will make sure our state government protects your constitutional rights as a business owner.  No free rides!

3.    Tax reform / Tax relief – Taxes are an expense!  Additional taxation adds pressure to the bottom line and lowers a business’s chance to maintain or grow profit. Raising taxes works against a company’s ability to add jobs and grow Arizona’s economy.  Taxes take money from the owner and limit their ability to make choices.  I will work aggressively with other state leaders to establish tax reform and tax relief to create and maintain a pro-growth, pro-business Arizona.  I will make sure control and choices are back with the business owners of our great state.

4.    Find the Money -
Arizona’s businesses have proven success with innovative and creative products. Our state is filled with dynamic leaders and entrepreneurs with cutting edge concepts, products and services. It is time for the rest of the nation and global investors to recognize Arizona businesses!! I am working hard to be the voice and advocate for your business and products.  I will work hard to open doors and attract both investment and credit capital to the state. Capital means growth. Capital will create more jobs. Capital will improve the lives of Arizonans. As an advocate for Arizona, I will work hard, I will tell your story, I will bring capital to the state and I will help your visions and dreams become reality.

5.    State, National and Global Markets -
The state, national and global markets offer tremendous opportunities for Arizona businesses to sell or promote their products or services. 95% of the world’s consumers are outside of Arizona and outside of the United States.  Arizona businesses must get in the game and maintain their ability to be competitive nationally and internationally.  Currently, I communicate, promote and campaign for Arizona businesses.  I am working to develop and maintain “business friendly” policies to ignite innovation, creativity and product/service enhancements to maintain our competitiveness.  I will open the doors making Arizona a global gateway for business.  I will bring customers to the state.

6.    Block Destructive Government Mandates –
The impending health care reform will destroy profitability and infringe on our 10th Amendment rights.   Mandated health care, which if driven through small business, will be a direct assault on our free market/free enterprise liberties.  Cap and trade, card check and organized labor take control from the owner and smother innovation and opportunity.  I am working with other business and government leaders to be the voice of opposition.  I will fight to maintain Arizona’s liberties, our right-to-work status and our freedom to choose.

As a business owner, I have shared your pain and I have shared your successes.  I have walked in your boots and understand the challenges facing small business.  Government should not add to your challenges…government should create solutions to reduce and eliminate the pressure.

It is time for Arizona to be led by people who have the executive experience to make Arizona the opportunity state
